Week 16

Week 16 Best Player of the Week Write-Up

Week 16 is in the books, and the fantasy playoff race is heating up. With just a few weeks left in the regular season, every win (and category) matters. Some teams took a step forward, while others stumbled hard. Let’s take a look at each squad’s Best Player of the Week (BPW) and what it means for the standings.

1. IE’s Finest (85-46-4) – Anthony Davis AD only played one game this week, but when he’s on the court, he’s a problem. He dropped 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks on 55.6% shooting. A quiet week by volume, but still a dominant effort for the league leader. IE’s Finest has been cruising at the top, but with Ballmer’s Big Ballers and Consider the Knicks lurking, they can’t afford to slip.

2. Ballmer’s Big Ballers (78-55-2) – Ivica Zubac You don’t expect Zubac to headline a BPW list, but here we are. 16 points, 14 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game in just two outings. He’s not flashy, but he gets the job done. Ballmer’s Big Ballers stays steady in 2nd place, but they’ll need their stars to step up if they want to push for that top seed.

3. Consider the Knicks (77-55-3) – Jayson Tatum Tatum did what Tatum does: 30 points, 9.75 rebounds, 5.75 assists, and 4.25 threes per game. He’s the engine behind Consider the Knicks’ success, keeping them in the title hunt. If he keeps this up, the Knicks are a legitimate threat come playoff time.

4. Shai-ke 'n Bake (74-56-5) – Kevin Durant KD was cooking this week with 31 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game while shooting an elite 67.9% from the field. This is exactly the kind of play Shai-ke 'n Bake needs to stay in the upper tier of the standings. The question is: can he keep carrying the load?

5. A Slice Called Quest (70-61-4) – Kris Dunn A surprising BPW for ASQ, but Dunn filled up the stat sheet with 9.5 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5.5 steals per game. That’s right, 5.5 steals. A defensive monster this week. If only he could score like the guys above him...

6. Type 2 Diabatés (68-67-0) – Tyrese Haliburton Haliburton continues to be a steady force, averaging 19.25 points, 8.25 assists, and 3.5 threes per game. His ability to orchestrate an offense is keeping Type 2 Diabatés in the playoff hunt.

7. Collier-d Greens (64-69-2) – Jimmy Butler Playoff Jimmy doesn’t exist in January, but he still had a solid week: 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. His efficiency wasn’t great, but Collier-d Greens will take what they can get as they try to climb out of the middle pack.

8. Sarr Wars - A New Hope (63-69-3) – Nikola Jokić No surprises here. 30.25 points, 12.5 rebounds, 9 assists—just another week in the life of the Joker. Sarr Wars remains a dangerous team if they can put together the right pieces around their franchise guy.

9. Suggs Hardened Johnsons (63-69-3) – Evan Mobley Mobley quietly stuffed the stat sheet with 19.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game. A strong effort, but Suggs Hardened Johnsons needs more firepower if they want to push past the .500 mark.

10. Jaquez Tuah (55-77-3) – Jamal Murray Murray exploded this week, averaging 34 points, 5.25 threes, and 5.5 assists per game. Too bad it didn’t help Jaquez Tuah much in the standings. They’re stuck in 10th place and running out of time to turn things around.

11. Winning 4 Tatum's BBQ Ruffles (53-81-1) – Bam Adebayo Bam put up 24.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game, proving once again that he’s one of the most versatile bigs in fantasy. But Winning 4 Tatum’s BBQ Ruffles is in a deep hole—will it be too little too late?

12. RimmyTinTin (44-89-2) – Kyrie Irving Kyrie was cooking, averaging 28.3 points, 3 threes, 6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. The problem? RimmyTinTin is still dead last. At this point, they might as well embrace the tank and prep for next season.

That’s it for Week 16. With the playoffs on the horizon, every matchup matters. Can IE’s Finest hold onto the top spot? Will anyone make a late-season push? Stay tuned for next week’s chaos.

Thanksgiving Draft Steals

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you're spending time resting and rosterbating. Since there are no games today, let's take a look at your steals of the draft. We are about halfway through week 5, but let's see who's surpassing their draft position on your squads. To qualify a player must have been drafted by you and currently still on your roster.  Players are being consider at the round they were drafted vs their current round value (RV).

1. Ballmer's Big Ballers - Keegan Murray (Drafted 9th Rnd, Current 6th RV) The sophomore player from Sacramento is having a great start to his season. There was some speculation if off season acquisition, Chris Duarte, would siphon off some of Keegan's production, but that hasn't been the case. Through 12 games, Keegan is averaging 13.6 pts, 2.2 treys, 6.1 rebs, 1.9 ast, 1.4 steals on 40% fg. Murray is getting a healthy amount of minutes (33.2 mpg) so he should continue to see opportunities to contribute on a high octane offense. Keegan finished last year averaging 12 pts and 4 rebs on 45% fg. I'd expect his scoring to continue to go up as his fg% improves.

2. Suggs Hardened Johnson - Scottie Barnes (Drafted 5th Rnd, Current 1st RV) This was an easy choice as Scottie Barnes has emerged as a top fantasy producer in 9-cat leagues. Patrick Beverly stupidly said there's nobody he'd fear from the Toronto Raptors in a dark alley, well Scottie may be that guy. Barnes is averaging 20 pts, 2 treys, 9 rbs, 5.9 ast, 1.6 stl, 1.4 blks, on 47% fg. This man is almost hitting half of his shots through 14 games with 34 mpg. Turnovers are a slight problem, but easily forgiven when he's contributing across multiple categories. Scottie finished at 9th round value last year, and he appears he will far exceed that value this year.

3. Consider the Knicks - Tobias Harris (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current 4th RV) The 11 year veteran is finding a new surge of production in Philadelphia so far this season. With James Harden exiting Philly, Harris has put up 19.5 pts, 1.2 treys, 6.4 rebs, 2.7 ast, .9 steals on 54% fg and 90%ft. Tobias is playing a very efficient 36.5 mpg. Tobias seems to have figured out his game and his role on the Sixers. Consider the Knicks also has seen nice returns from Shroder and Kelly Oubre Jr, both playing well above their ADP.

4. Smucklebutt - Mark Williams (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current 4th Rv). Big Mark is having a nice season so far through 14 games. Williams is contributing 13.6 pts, 10.4 rebs, 1.4 ast, .9 stl and 1 blk with 67.5% fg. The young center is getting 27 minutes per game and is essentially contributing 1 blk/stl per game. His real value comes from his rebounding and fg%. Williams finished last year with 10th round value, so he's well on his way to outproducing 22/23 season. I wouldn't worry too much about Nick Richard's taking too much of Mark's playing time when he comes back from injury. Mark is the man.

5. IE's Finest - Kyle Kuzma (Drafted 7th Rnd, Current 6th Rv) In this young season, IE's Finest hasn't had a true "steal" of the draft yet. The majority of his guys are playing right at their draft value or slightly below/above. Kuzma is producing 23.7 pts, 2.4 treys, 5.9 rebs, 4.4 ast on 48% fg. The fashionista is continuing his productive play in Washington. The Wizards are a mess, but if Kuzma can continue to produce top 70 value, IE's Finest will be happy. Wendell Carter Jr will be someone to watch exceed their draft position once he returns from injury.

6. Jaspreet's Optimal Team - Jonas Valanciunas (Drafted 9th Rnd, Current 4th RV). The Lithuanian big man has found some consistent production in 25 minutes per game through 15 games this year. Valanciunas is averaging 13.5 pts, .7 treys, 8.9 rebs, 2.5 ast, 1.6 blks on 54% fg. These are great value numbers from the center and should continue. Valanciunas finished last year with 9th round value. Special shoutout to Brook Lopez also outproducing his draft position by 3 rounds.

7. Juevos Bancheros - Tyrese Maxey (Drafted 5th Rnd, Current 1st RV). This is one I would call a super steal of the draft. Juevos Bancheros must have known Harden was on his way out and Maxey was about to flourish alongside Embiid. Maxey is putting up 26 pts, 3.2 treys, 4.7 rebs, 7.1 ast, .8 steal, .7 blk on 46% fg and 90% ft.  The University of Kentucky product is having his best season by far of his young career. With Harden gone, Maxey is really showing the type of player he can be. Tyrese finished with 7th round value last year and he should crush that mark.

8. The Math Aint Mathurin - Herbert Jones (Drafted 12th Rnd, Current 2nd RV). Herbert "Under the radar" Jones is having a great season so far. Through 12 games, he's putting up 11.2 pts, 1 trey, 4.3 rebs, 2.9 ast, 2.1 steals, 1.6 blks on 49.4% fg. The Math Aint Mathurin lost confidence in the young player early on, but was ecstatic to get him back from the free agency pool. Once Simons returns to full health, he should also be someone to watch to exceed his average draft position. Hopefully Trey Murphy III doesn't return and spoil Herb's party. Alisa laughed at your team name and instantly knew it was yours.

9. The Two Time - Clint Capela (Drafted 7th Rnd, Current 4th RV) The big man from Atlanta seems to be enjoying life after John Collins depature. Capela is putting up a respectable 10.7 pts, 9.9 rebs, .7 stl, 1.7 blk, 62.7% fg. Clint finds a lot of his value from his blocks, fg% and rebounds. His play style should pair nicely with Claxton once he returns to top form. This team seems like it could benefit from acquiring Nurkic. The Two Time needs his big boys to help him get back into the playoff picture.

10. A Slice Called Quest - Mitchell Robinson (Drafted 9th Rnd, Current 6th RV) The anchor for the Knicks is once again providing elite offensive rebound numbers. Mitch Rob is averaging 6.6 pts, 11.6 rebs, 1.4 stls, 1.2 blks on 57% fg. A Slice Called Quest doesn't need any offensive stats from Robinson, as he focuses on defensive stats. Dealing with a handful of injuries, Slice will be looking to make a push back into contention.

11. RimmyTinTin - Chet Holmgren (Drafted 5th Rnd, Current 1st RV). Mr. Holmgren is finally unleashed after a lost rookie season to injury. Chet is putting up 17.1 pts, 1.5 treys, 8.1 rebs, 2.5 ast, .9 stl, 2.3 blk on 55.7% fg. Chet's unique size and athleticism make him a force on both sides of the ball. He's proven he's not just a college ball player. RimmyTinTin will need his two young guns to lead the way for him Chet and Victor. Go get em young guns.

(Nice friend there Chet)

12. Winning for Harambe - Michael Porter Jr (Drafted 7th Rnd, Current 5th RV). MPJ is having a nice offensive season so far, but don't ask him to pass the ball. Porter is contributing 17.1 pts, 3 treys, 7.8 rebs, 1.3 ast, .5 stls on 47% fg Porter is finding his groove and getting 30 minutes per game for the former champion Nuggets. Winning for Harambe is going to need more production from Zion and Middleton to start getting back in the mix.

Eat a bunch and have a great day, and as always, consider the Knicks

Your Steals of the Draft

As we approach the halfway point of the regular season let's take a look at your steals of the draft. To qualify a player must have been drafted by you and currently still on your roster. I'm generally considering players at the round they were drafted and their current round value (RV). It turns out the 8th round was a goldmine this year for value. Half the teams here found their draft hero in the 8th round. the 11/12th round also provided some decent value too.

1. Nikola Dimin' - Lauri Markannen (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current 2nd RV): This is an easy one as Lauri is have a resurgence with his new Utah home. He's averaging 22 pts, 2.7 threes, 8.3 rebs, 2.2 ast, on 53% fg and 84% ft. Most of these stats are well above career averages. Nikola Dimin' has to be loving this production at such a discount in the 8th round. Markannen seems capable of sustaining these level throughout the season, I'm sure there will be some ups and downs like any player, but the opportunities should continue to present themselves.

2. In-Season Sabbatical - De'Anthony Melton (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current 4th RV): The USC product has found some major success with his role in Philadelphia this season so far. He's currently getting fed almost 30 minutes per game and making the most of them. Averaging 12 pts, 2.4 threes, 4.5 rebs, 3.4 ast, 2.1 stl, 0.5 blk, on 43% fg and 62% ft and 1.6 TO. If we look at just the last month of play Melton is averaging almost 15 points with his minutes in the 34 minute range. ISS will hope for more production from the guard while Maxey is still out. (sorry no gif of Melton exists with him in a sixers uniform)

3. RimmyTinTin - Al Horford (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current 5th RV): There actually wasn't much variation between your drafted players and their current value, most are playing about where they were drafted - I guess that's the type of efficiency you get from an auto draft haha. I could have made an argument for Porzingis drafted at 5th round and playing at 2nd, but Horford being drafted later gave him the edge for me. Horford is providing 10.5 pts, 2.2 threes, 6.3 rebs, 2.7 ast, 1 blk on 57% fg and 0.8 TO. Horford is getting fed a healthy 30 minutes per game which is great for the old man. Even with the return of Time Lord, Horford should continue to carve out meaningful minutes for the Celtics.

4. Hard Wood Herros - Tyler Herro (Drafted 7th Rnd, Current 3rd RV): The name fits the team nicely as Tyler Herro as been a hero this year. The kid is putting up 21 pts, 3.3 threes, 6.3 reb, 4.2 ast, 0.9 stl, 0.5 blk on 46% fg and 90% ft. Getting a legitimate 35 minutes per, Herro is fully involved in the Heat offense, especially with so many Heat players missing games, there's always opportunities for the young University of Kentucky product. A special shout out to Kelly Oubre Jr. drafted in the 13th round and playing at the 5th round, but with the return of Hayward it's yet to be seen how this will affect his value.

5. Bent a Dick Mathurbating - Jaren Jackson Jr. (Drafted 11th Rnd, Current 2nd RV): Another easy one to determine. JJJ would typically be a top 50 pick if he's healthy, but starting the year coming back from more devastating injuries, JJJ slipped all the way to the 11th round. Now that he's back and playing again, he's showing why he was such an exciting player to play alongside Ja Morant. The former Big Ten Defensive Player of the year is putting up 17 pts, 1.8 threes, 6.3 reb, 0.5 ast, 0.8 stl, and 3.1 blks on 50% fg and 76% ft. JJJ's value largely comes from his extraordinary block ability, almost 5 standard deviations above the league average. Ridiculous. It'd be nice to see him distribute a little more, but who's complaining. Enjoy the 11th round low risk, and high reward draft pick.

6. Consider the Knicks - Nic Claxton (Drafted 11th Rnd, Current 4th RV): The Clax Daddy has been killing it in Brooklyn this year on the boards and defense. He's taken a big step from last year and doing his best to support KD and Kyrie. The young center is producing 12 pts, 8.7 rebs, 1.2 ast, 0.7 stl, 2.3 blks, on 74% fg, but a miserable 44% ft. Similar to JJJ, Claxton derives most of his value from rebounds, blocks, and fg%. He's become a nice anchor on the commish's squad, only hurting in ft%, but Shai does fine balancing that out. Special shout out to Randle being exactly who I thought he was. Reached for him in the 6th and playing like a 6th rounder (4th rv in last month so good for him, he's hustling for that knicks 6 game winning streak)

7. The Two-Time - Anfernee Simons (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current Value 4th RV): So I have to break my rule on the The Two-Time, practically your whole team you drafted is playing at about where you drafted them. So, although you didn't draft Simons (the brilliant commish did) he's currently your best draft value player. Simons is putting up 23 points, 4 threes, 3 reb, 4.3 ast, 0.8 stl, 45% fg, and 90% ft. Anfernee thrives when Lillard is out of the lineup alongside Jerami Grant. But even with Lillard around, Simons is still plenty productive. He's part of the Portland core and that's not changing any time soon. Simons will continue to put up numbers, especially on those days when Lillard isn't around.

8. Ballmer's Big Ballers - Andrew Wiggins (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current 3rd RV): The University of Kansas product is having another successful campaign in Golden State. He's averaging 19 points, 3 threes, 5.1 reb, 2.2 ast, 1.4 stl, 0.8 blk, 51% fg, 63% ft. The Warriors will need him more than ever with Curry going down. He's currently averaging almost 33 minutes per game, I'd expect that to bump up a little, maybe a slight drop in efficiency, but overall great value for the where he was drafted.

9. Jaspreet's Optimal Team - Brook Lopez (Drafted 12th Rnd, Current 2nd RV): The Memorial High School product (Fresno, CA) has really reinvented his game by adding a 3 point shot. The Standford Stud is putting up 14 pts, 2.1 threes, 5.9 reb, 1.1 ast, 0.5 stl, 2.8 blks, 48% fg, and 82% ft, 1.2 TO. Lopez has great overall numbers and doesn't hurt you anywhere, his value is buoyed by his blocks, but adding the three pointers really makes him such a stud with the great efficiency. He's outperforming his draft position by about 10 rounds, incredibly slept on in the draft. Nice pick! Special shout out to O.G. Anunoby (drafted 6th rnd, and current 2nd rv)

10. You're Killian Me Smalls - Buddy Hield (Drafted 8th Rnd, Current 6th RV): Because of a large volume trade, there wasn't a ton of originally drafted players of value left.  Hield is producing slightly better than where he was drafted with 17.5 pts, 3.6 threes, 4.7 reb, 2.6 ast, 1 stl, 44% fg and 85.7% ft. Hield is getting solid minutes with 32 minutes per game, so he should be fine moving forward with opportunities. But this time won't really be relying too much on Hield anyway. Hopefully he can keep pulling his weight and providing solid mid-round value.

11. Injuries R. Gay - Josh Hart (Drafted 10th Rnd, Current 7th RV):  Not really a sexy choice, but he is one of a few players on the team outperforming their draft position. Most of the players on this team are playing at about their drafted position or slightly below. But it's a good late round pick providing some nice mid-round value. Hart is putting up 9.5 pts, 8.4 reb, 3.8 ast, 1.4 stls, 50% fg and 73% ft and 1.6 TO. Hart is getting a solid 33 minutes per game in Portland is a great compliment piece to the Blazer's Big Three.

12.  A Slice Called Quest - Nobody: So, this team is very interesting and I have to break it down differently. Anthony Davis is the only player playing at his drafted level or better, which is first round so not much to write about there. Sorry about the injury that blows. So despite the entire team playing below their drafted value, A Slice Called Quest retains 4th place. By significantly dominating fg%, reb, blks, and turnovers, he remains in the middle of the pack. Steals remain an elusive category for him to dominate, the Swedish baller may need to make a move or just have a healthy Chris Paul.
