Week 5 Write Up

Week 5 is over and Thanksgiving is upon us. It's time to give thanks to your best player of week 5 and marvel at their weekly averages. I will say this isn't the best week for basketball, only one game on Tuesday and no games on Thursday.

1. Consider the Knicks: The commish comes up with another win and pushes the win streak to 5. He also remains the last unbeaten team so the target is on his back. CTK continues the win streak with help from The Brow. Davis put up a meager 16.3 points, 6.7 rebs, 3.3 ast, 2 steals, 1 blk with 60.6% fg - good for 26th best player. Davis had a down week after coming off two hot weeks. He slipped on a mop and then got elbowed in the face this week. CTK faces 11th place White Sides Matter.

2. Chobani: After a big 7-2 win for the Greek Yogurt, Chobani soars from 4th place to 2nd. This was due to DeMar DeRozan's incredible 4 game week where he put up 26.8 points, 1 trey, 7.2 rebs, 6 ast, 1.5 steals, 56% FG, and 85% FT - good for 4th best player of the week. DeMar surprised me this week and demonstrated what he is capable of. Chobani has to be loving the increased 3-pointers since DeRozan isn't a 3-point shooter historically. that 56.6% FG is also fantastic for someone who averaged 19 shot attempts per game this week. Toronto is starting to heat up and DeRozan is leading the charge. Chobani is also heating up with wins in 4/5 match ups, but he now faces the other surging team, 3rd place Nocturnal Sunuva Gun. I'm labeling this as my 🔥  MATCHUP OF THE WEEK. 🔥  It's a top tier team showdown - there can be only one winner.

3. Nocturnal Sunuva Gun: After a slow start to the year (losing 2 out of the first 3), Nocturnal is now red hot winning the last two weeks in a row and big (7-2 & 6-3). His best player of week 5 was one of his newer additions, Marc Gasol. The Spaniard put up 22 points, 1.7 treys, 10.7 rebs, 5 ast, 2.3 blks on 43.6% fg and 86.7% ft - good for 12th best player of the week. Gasol will have to continue to step up with Conley going down for a few weeks. NSG faces 3rd place Chobani in the 🔥  MATCHUP OF THE WEEK. 🔥  This is NSG's second week in a row with the highlight matchup, but that's what happens when you are good and making noise in the standings.

4. LittleBabyJunk(LBJ): It's been a tough couple weeks for LBJ as he suffers his second straight loss after starting the season 3-0. He made another blockbuster trade sending LaMarcus and Draymond to acquire James Harden. 🏅 Speaking of Harden, he was on fire this week as he put up a ridiculous 38.3 points, 5 treys, 4.3 rebs, 8.3 ast, 1.7 steals, .7 blks, 43% fg and 100% ft - good for his second straight week as best player of the week 🏅 LBJ maybe just needs to have a full week with all his players to get back on track. He now owns three of the best guards in the league with Harden, Curry, and Irving. He faces 7th place Queef Latina in week 6.

5. RimmyTinTin: RTT spent a few brief moments in the 2nd place spotlight but was handed his first defeat of the season 3-6, which sent him tumbling down to 5th. He is essentially tied with the 4th place team and only a game behind 3rd place team - no need to panic. Myles Turner has somewhat re-emerged and put up 14 points, 1 trey, 5.7 rebs, 3 ast, 3 blks, on 51.4% fg and 100% ft - good for 14th best player of the week. Turner's value is strongly tied to his blocking ability and hopefully for RTT his points and rebounds will come back as well. RTT will try to bounce back this week against 10th place The Brodie, but it may be slightly more difficult with Durant out with an ankle issue.

6. Bogdanovic's Bitches: After a big 7-2 victory, BB launched himself from 8th place up to 6th and into playoff contention (yeah i know we are a long way away from playoffs). 🏅 One reason for his great week was the rookie stud Ben Simmons who put up 21 points, 9.7 rebs, 8.7 ast, 2.3 steals, .7 blks on 66.7% fg and 58.3% ft - good for 3rd best player of the week. 🏅 The future is now and Simmons tore it up this week and almost averaged a triple double across 3 games. Bog Bitch also had another player finish top 10 this week (Kemba - 6th). Things are starting to look up for BB as he matches up with 8th place 2High Kent Blazemore. This was my second choice for matchup of the week due to the closeness in standings and the friendly rivalry.

7. Queef Latina: Coming off his first win of the year, QL falls just short in week 5 (4-5). Even with the loss QL remains in 7th place while other teams shuffled around him. Queef must be saying FINALLY with Jimmy Butler who put up 18.5 points, 1.2 treys, 6.8 rebs, 5.8 ast, 3 steals, .5 blk on 44% fg and 85% ft - good for 13th best player of the week. This is a great sign for QL who really needs Butler to start playing like Chicago Jimmy. Queef may have also found a diamond in the ruff with Spencer Dinwiddie who was top 25 this week, and will get some extended run and playing time with D'angelo going down for the foreseeable future. Could be the pickup of the year. QL faces the guard-heavy 4th place LittleBabyJunk(LBJ) this week.

8. 2High Kent Blazemore: 2HKB has now put together a 3-game winning streak (all 5-4 victories) and has moved up another spot in the standings from 9th to 8th. Slowly but surely he is creeping up. Even though he had no faith in this player, Timmy H was his best player of the week racking up 22.3 points, 3.3 treys, 7 rebs, 4 ast, 1.7 steals on 47.8% fg and 92.9% ft - good for 7th best player of the week!! If 2HKB had only considered the Knicks he would have never doubted Hardaway. Although THJ has been hot he has been dealing with a nagging foot problem that may hold him out of some games this week while he tries to get that foot right. K Middleton also showed up this week and finished top-20. 2HKB faces 6th place Bog Bitches, which was my 2nd choice for matchup of the week. Would be a big win for Blazemore if he can pull it off and keep that W-streak going.

9. Young Kangz: Ugh when it rains it pours. After starting off the year with back-to-back wins, the gas in the tank is running on E as he drops his last 3 matches. There isn't a manger out there who needs a player back as bad as YK needs Kawhi. Obi-Wan Kawhi you are YK's only hope. He can still be happy about Big Daddy Embiid going nuts with 33 points, 1.3 treys, 13 rebounds, 4 ast, 3 blks on 57.1% fg and 72.1% ft - good for 9th best player of the week. The Seth Curry pickup looks promising as the Mavs are a mess and will need him to play big minutes sooner than later. YK just needs to be patient, not panic, and be on damage control mode until the great Kawhi returns. And his matchup with the winless last place team couldn't come at a better time. Look for a W here.

10. The Brodie: After losing his last 3 match ups, The Brodie pulled off a big 5-4 victory against a top team. TB received a lot of help from the King who put up 31 poitns, 3.3 treys, 9.7 rebs, 8.7 ast, 1 steal, 1.3 blocks, 56% fg and 61.1% ft - good for 5th best player of the week. His only blemish on the week was his FT% and turnovers (4.7) but he almost averaged a triple-double during the 3-game week so who can really complain. TB's pickup of Allen Crabbe is looking solid after the news about D'angelo going down for multiple weeks came out. Hopefully TB can ride this momentum as he faces a tough 5th place RimmyTinTin.

11. White Sides Matter: Although WSM suffered another loss (2-7), they made a big splash in the trade market sending Harden out to get LaMarcus and Draymond Green. In a classic 2 for 1 deal, WSM has created more depth to their overall roster, and acquired two top-30 players. Time will tell if this trade pays off. In the meantime his best player of the week was The Lord. 🏅 Covington put up 21 points, 4 treys, 6 rebs, 2 ast, 2 steals, .7 blks, on 58.8% fg and 100% ft with only 1.7 turnovers - good for 2nd best player of the week 🏅 I have to say Covington has surprised me this year. I thought he was way over-ranked in the draft, but he has proven me very wrong. He is flourishing alongside Embiid and Simmons and is playing a comfortable 31-32 minutes per game providing first round value on the year. Keep it up Cov. WSM faces the commish this week and Covington will look to stick it to him for doubting him.

12. KarlAnthonyPoundTown: Winter is coming and it must be getting cold in the cellar. Things go from bad to worse as KAPT has now lost D'angelo Russel for the foreseeable future and he already has Gobert shelved for a few more weeks. There has to be a light at the end of the tunnel. At least Karl-Anthony is balling, with 20.2 points, 2.2 treys, 12.2 rebounds, 2 ast, .8 steals, .8 blks on 55.4% fg and 76.9% ft - good for 11th best player of the week. KAPT does have a potential winnable matchup this week facing another injury-riddled team in 9th place Young Kangz. I'm saying there is a chance. God speed.

Good luck in week 6 everybody and enjoy Thanksgiving
