After week 2 we have completed 10% of our fantasy basketball league so far. It was an interesting week of basketball, especially with the Knicks taking down the Cavs last night. Starting with week 2 players will only be eligible as your best player of the week if they played a minimum of 3 games for the week. I will also start highlighting the overall best player of the week in green, 2nd best in blue, and 3rd best in purple. Not much movement in the standings this week, as the top 6 teams all stayed the same. All match-ups were 5-4 decisions except for one.
1. Consider the Knicks: The commish continues his win streak with the only 6-3 victory of the week, and increases his lead to 2.5 games. His best player of the week was surprisingly the New Zealand hammer. Steve Adams put up 16.3 pts, 9 rebs, 1.3 ast, 1 steal, 1.3 blks on 66% fg and 100% ft, good for 16th best player overall. Adams hasn't drifted into the background with new teammates Carmelo and Paul George around - if anything he is stepping up more, while providing the rare 1 steal and block per game. it's a small sample size, but CTK will take it. CTK faces 9th place Queef Latina this week.
2. It'sFikaTime: FikaTime must have had some good coffee as he pulled off a 5-4 victory in the international grudge match. His best player of the week was Steph Curry who put up 26.5 pts, 3 treys, 4.2 rebs, 7.2 ast, 2.5 steals, on 47.9% fg and 96.3% ft - good for 4th best player overall. Steph returned to his former MVP self this week playing 4 games at a high level. The Warriors don't look so great as they lost a game to the lowly Detroit Pistons, but it doesn't seem to have an affect on Curry. Fika faces 7th place NocturnalSunuvaGun this week.
3. Orange Julius: Orange Julius remains in 3rd place after a 5-4 victory in week 2. His best player (of course) was Giannis Antetokounmpo who continues to lead the league in scoring. The G-Freak averaged 31 points, 1 trey, 12 boards, 6 dimes, 1.3 steals, and 1 blk on 58.7% fg and 76.2% ft - good for 6th best player of the week. Antetokounmpo is quite simply on another level. He has a good supporting cast around him and there is no reason he won't take the Bucks to the playoffs this year. OJ will also look to ride him to the playoffs, as he faces 8th place It's Bareaning Men this week.
4. Young Kangz: Young Kangz keeps his 4th place spot after week 2 with a 5-4 victory. His best player of the week was Al Horford. After a 3 game week, Horford put up 17.3 pts, 2 treys, 10.3 rebs, 4 ast, .3 steals, .7 blk on 61% fg and 80% ft - good for 21st best player of the week. Horford's minutes hovered around the 32 minute mark this week and that's a good sign. Kyrie will be looking to Horford as a fellow veteran to help lead the young Celtics through the eastern conference this year. Young Kangz should look to trade Horford or Porzingis to the commisioner for Bogdan and complete his young kangz lineup. YK faces 5th place RimmyTinTin this week.
5. RimmyTinTin: Rim also keeps his place in the standings with a 5-4 victory. RTT's best player of the week was his number 1 pick Kevin Durant who put up 28.2 points, 3.5 treys, 7.2 rebs, 5.2 ast, .5 steals, 1.2 blks on 56.5% fg and 84% - good for 3rd best player of the week. KD should consistently be RimmyTinTin's best player of the week and be a top 10 player weekly. There's nothing to suggest this wouldn't be the case. RTT also saw a nice performance from A. Gordon this week and will hope that continues. He faces 4th place Young Kangz this week.
6. The Brodie: The Brodie suffered a 4-5 loss in week 2, but kept his hold on the 6th place spot. The Brodie's best player of the week was The King. LeBron put up 24.2 points, 1.8 treys, 6.8 rebs, 10.2 assists, 1.2 steals, 1 blk on 57.6% fg and 70% ft - 15th best player overall. LeBron had an excellent 4 game week, however he did not consider the Knicks when they lost to them last night. LeBron will continue to put up top 20 value all season. If he could increase his ft% and limit his turnovers (4.5 this week) he'd be a consistent top 15 or 10 guy. I'm guessing the Brodie isn't complaining though. TB would probably like to see the rest of his team step up though as he only had 1 other guy (DJ Augistin) finish in the top 100 for the week. TB looks to get back on track against 10th place KLK Mis Viveres.
7. NocturnalSunuvaGun: NSG jumped from 9th to 7th place after a 5-4 victory this past week. His best player of the week was DeMarcus Cousins. Big Cuz put up a whopping 36.3 points, 2.7 treys, 16 rebs, 6.3 ast, 1.7 steals, 1.3 blks on 54.4% fg and 79.4% ft - Boogie was the best player this week. Cousins benefited from Anthony Davis's absence this week and also had some extra motivation to go back to Sacramento against his former team where he put up his first 30+ point and 20+ reb game of his career. Don't expect these kind of number weekly with AD in the lineup, but Cousins is a top 20 player for sure. Nocturnal looks to keep climbing the standings but has a tough matchup with 2nd place AbouttogetKyrieddd and the player he traded away (Kyrie).
8. It's Bareaning Men: IBM drops a spot in the standings after a 4-5 loss. His best player of the week was the UCONN product Kemba Walker. Walker averaged 23.5 points, 2.2 treys, 3.8 rebs, 6.5 ast, 1 steal, .5 blk on 46.5 fg and 100% ft - good for 13th best player of the week. Kemba is the leader of the Hornets should continue to be a top performer for IBM. It's surprisingly IBM lost since he had 5 other players in the top 50 for this week, but it's all about who you are matched up against. Carmelo Anthony made comments this week about wanting Westbrook to do what he does best and I'm sure IBM would agree. IBM looks to right the ship against a tough 3rd place Orange Julius this week.
9. Queef Latina: QL also drops a spot in the standings after a 4-5 loss. Even though he barely lost, Queef had some positive production out of some of his players this week, with 3 of them finishing in the top 15. His best player of the week was the multifaceted big man Nikola Jokic. Big Jok put up 21.5 points, 1.2 treys, 12.2 rebs, 3.5 ast, .8 stelas, .2 blk on 59.6% fg and 100% ft - 10th best player of the week. After a sluggish start to the year Jokic has turned it on and is easily the Nugget's best player. He has some athletic players around him who should keep his assist numbers up. QL has a tough matchup against 1st place Consider the Knicks this week.
10. KLK Mis Viveres: KMV moves up a spot in the standings despite a close 4-5 loss. The co-manager's best player of the week was Lord Covington who put up 14.7 points, 3.3 treys, 5.3 rebs, 1.3 ast, 2.3 steals on 45.7% fg and 66.7% ft - good for 24th best player of the week. RoCo continues to get his while playing around other stat-grabbing players like embiid and simmons. KMV would probably like to see better play from their first round pick Harden, as he finished just outside the top50 for the week. They also need Whiteside to get back on the court and producing. KMV looks for their first win as they face off with 6th place The Brodie this week.
11. MalcolmintheMiddleton: MITM drops a spot in the standings after a 3-6 loss. It was a tough week for Malcolm as he had 2 players finish in the top 50 this week (Anderson and Middleton). Anderson was his best player of the week (33rd overall) with 15.5 points, 4.5 treys, 5 rebs, .8 ast, .5 steals, 1 blk on 45.7% fg and 66.7% ft. The Rhyno had a slow start to the year but had a very productive 4 game week. Look for Lillard to bounce back and be more efficient this week. It is an encouraging sign that Middleton's play has picked up as of late. MITM looks to bounce back this week as he faces last place Karl-Anthony Pound Town in this bottom of the barrel grudge match.
12. KarlAnthonyPoundTown: Our cellar dweller continues to be the PoundTown, but he lost a close 4-5 matchup against one of the top teams. There is also a silver lining that his baller, Karl-Anthony, was the 2nd best player of the week. The big KAT put up 28 points, 1.3 tryes, 12 rebs, 1 ast, 2.3 blks on 56% fg and 94% ft. KAPT also had 3 other players finish in the top 50 this week. KAPT has an excellent chance for his first victory of the year as he is matched up against 11th place MalcolmintheMiddle.
That's it for this week, good luck in week 3.
