Week 1 Write Up

Welcome back to the 2017-2018 NBA Fantasy Basketball Season. If you're like me, you are done tinkering with your mediocre fantasy football team and ready for the real games to begin - Fant BBALL. Shout out to everyone who made it to the draft and was flexible with the time slot for it. For the two newcomers, welcome and this is the weekly write up where each team's best player will be highlighted for the past week along with some other stats and/or bad jokes. To qualify as your team's "Best Player of the Week" (BPW) a player must play a minimum of 3 games during the week. For week 1 I will be considering players with just 2 games played since it was just the start of the season. So let's dive in and take a look at last week.

1. Consider the Knicks: The commish takes the week 1 opportunity to pound PoundTown in the ass 8-1. His BPW was an unlikely candidate, drafted in the 5th round Nikola Vucevic. The Vucci Mane put up 27.7 pts, 10.3 rebs, 3 ast, 1 stl, 1.7 blks, an astounding 2.3 treys 68% fg and 80% ft across 3 games, good for best overall player of the week. I'd like to thank Frank Vogel for his production and letting Nikola play his game. The Scott Skiles days are over! CTK looks to keep things rolling with a matchup against 10th place God Dame.

2. It'sFikaTime: Formerly known as the Soviet Pipeline, IFT pulled off a 6-2 victory with the help of his first round pick Steph Curry. The Chef put up 29 pts, 4.3 treys, 4.7 rebs, 5 ast, on 47% shooting and 100% ft across 3 games, good for 3rd best player of the week. Steph could have potentially done more damage if he hadn't been ejected from his first ever game. I guess he is more bite than bark. IFT also took part in the first trade of the year adding Kyrie Irving to the squad to compliment his group of guards. It's an international matchup next week as he faces the last place Swedish KarlAnthonyPoundTown next week.

3. Orange Julius: OJ! put the 6-3 smack down on God Dame last week with none other than his first round pick Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the charge. The Greek Freak was the 2nd best player overall last week putting up 38.3 pts, 9.7 rebs, 5 ast, 2.7 steals, .7 blks on 67% fg across 3 games. If Antetokounmpo could develop a 3 point shot and improve his ft% he'd be the clear cut best fantasy player in the game. Beggars can't be choosers and I'm sure OJ is happy with the production so far from the talented Bucks player. OJ looks to keep things rolling against 8th place Queef Latina this week.

4. Young Kangz: Kaaaangz took home a 5-3 victory with a tie in the turnovers category. With his first overall pick Kawhi sidelined YK looked to his second pick Kristaps Porzingis. the PorzinGod put up 32 points, 2.5 treys, 8.5 rebs, 1.5 steals .5 blks on 48.9% fg and 78.9% ft across 2 games, good for 21st best player of the week. Look for Porzingis to increase his block totals and inch his way up the leaderboards. With Carmelo gone it's Porzingis's time to shine in the Big Apple. YK should probably look to trade KP to the commish soon though as he'd be a better fit there. YK is hoping for a speedy recovery to Kawhi and a victory against the 6th place The Brodie.

5. RimmyTinTin: One of the veterans of the league, RTT, notched a 5-3 win last week with a tie in the assist category. RTT's best player of the week could have been Myles Turner had he not gotten hurt, so the title for BPW fell to his first overall pick Kevin Durant. The Slim Reaper put up 23.7 pts, 3 treys, 8.7 rebs, 4 ast, .7 steals, an astounding 4.7 blks on 47% shooting and a surprisingly bad 66.7 ft% across 3 games good for 19th best player of the week. KD could have done more damage if he also hadn't been ejected from a game last week with Curry. I wouldn't worry about KD's production as he's arguably one of the best fantasy 9-cat ballers. He'll find himself in the top 5 conversation sooner than later. RimmyTinTin faces 7th place It's Bareaning Men this week.

6. The Brodie: One of the newcomers to the league earned a first week 5-4 win just barely losing the blks category by 1. TB's first round pick LeBron James led the way with 25 pts, 1.3 treys, 8.3 rebs, 6.3 ast, .7 steals, 1.3 blks 60% shooting and a great 91.7% ft, across 3 games - good for 8th best player of the week. It's unlikely LBJ keeps his free throw shooting up, but The Brodie will take it while he can get it. LeBron is on his yearly mission to win a title and he should be pouring in stats all year, hopefully not too many rest days for the King. TB is matched up with the 4th place Young Kangz this week.

7. It's Bareaning Men: IBM leads off our bottom half of the league with a narrow 4-5 defeat last week. He just barely lost out on the steals and assists categories so look for a bounce back this week. His best player of the week was CJ McCollum. McCollum put up 27 points, 3 treys, 5 rebs, 1 ast, 1.5 steals, .5 blks on an amazing 58.3% fg and 85.7% ft, across 2 games for 9th best player of the week. CJ could have had a bigger week if he hadn't been suspended for their first game because of a stupid "leaving the bench" rule during the pre-season. Only onward and upwards for the Portland shooting guard. Westbrook had a tough week for IBM, but look for a bounce back from his as well as he gets more comfortable with his new teammates. IBM faces 5th place RimmyTinTin this week.

8. Queef Latina: The other newcomer had a tough first week opening with a 3-5 loss with a tie in assists. QL's best player of the week was the 9-cat stud Otto Porter Jr. Otto put up 19 points, 1 trey, 8.5 rebs, 1.5 ast, 3.5 steals, 1 blk on a fantastic 53% fg and 100% ft and his signature low turnovers at just .5 across 2 games for 4th best player of the week. Otto Porter is so efficient and does not hurt you anywhere. I expect this production from him all year long. QL is probably hoping Jimmy Butler can start clicking with his new team in Minnesota sooner than later. I wouldn't worry about Butler especially with his old coach at the helm. QL has a friendly rivalry matchup against 3rd place Orange Julius this week.

9. NocturnalSunuvaGun: Another league veteran, NSG took a tough 3-5 loss with a tie this past week. His team was led by DeMarcus Cousins. Run DMC put up 28.3 pts, 2.3 treys, 11.7 rebs, 5 ast, 1.3 steals, 3 blks on 45.9% fg and 75.9 ft, but with a whopping 5.3 turnovers - across 3 games good for 15th best player of the week. DeMarcus and Anthony Davis basically do all the work on the Pelicans and will probably continue to eat up stats until Jrue Holliday and the rest of the misfit Pelicans decide to step up. Nocturnal was also apart of the first trade of the league adding Marc Gasol to his collection of big men (Drummond, DJ, and Cousins). Let's see if the big man is still king in this league as he is matched up against 11th place KLK Mis Viveres.

10. God Dame: Another crafty veteran of the league, GD, endured a 3-6 loss this past week. No surprise Damian Lillard led his team across 3 games for 5th best player overall with Griffin close behind at number 7. Dollar Dame put up 23.7 points, 2.3 treys, 5.7 rebs, 5.3 ast, 2 steals, 1.3 blks on 45% fg and 94.7% ft and only 2 turnovers. Looks like he could end up being a triple threat, balling, rapping, and maybe...acting? Anyway his rapping doesn't appear to be affecting his bball skills. Dame should be a top 10 player all year as Portland hopes for another chance at the playoffs. God Dame goes up against the 1st place commish this week.

11. KLK Mis Viveres: Yet again another veteran of fantasy basketball, KMV took a tough 2-6 loss with a tie last week. His best player of the week was his first overall pick James Harden who finished with 27.7 pints, 4.7 treys, 4 rebs, 8.7 dimes, 1.7 steals on 44% fg and 81.2% ft. Good for 11th best player across 3 games. The Beard is up to his old tricks and will be a top 10 player all year. With old man Chris Paul nursing injuries it looks like the Rockets solely belong to Harden again. He should be pick and rolling with Capela all year while Ariza and Ryan Anderson stretch the floor giving them space. Week 1 could have been a different story if his big man Whiteside hadn't gotten hurt. Look for Hassan to be back to balling and dominating soon. KMV has a UC Santa Cruz alum matchup with 9th place NocturnalSunuvaGun this week.

12. KarlAnthonyPoundTown: Our week 1 cellar dweller is KAPT after a 1-8 pounding. No surprise his BPW was Karl-Anthony Towns who put up 21.7 pts, .7 treys, 11.7 rebs, 1 ast, 1 steal, 1.3 blks on a great 59.1% fg and 84.6% ft. KAT can only go up from here and is still king in Minnesota even with the addition of Teague and Butler. PoundTown will probably hope to get better numbers from Rudy Gobert who is a great fit alongside Karl-Anthony. Looks like shots have already been fired in his week 2 matchup as the 2nd place team changes his name to taunt the Swedish baller. KAPT faces It'sFikaTime in week 2.

Any suggestions or improvements are always welcomed to the league and/or write up. Good luck in week 2 everybody and as always, consider the knicks this year.
