Week 1 Recap

Week 1 has come and gone. Unfortunately, we have already seen the ugly injury bug rear its head, claiming the likes of Morant and Dinwiddie. Marquese Chriss too, but he's not worth rostering anyway. There has been some decent waiver wire activity, but no trades this week. I've been pleasantly surprised that the NBA hasn't had too many postponements thus far. Hopefully they can keep it up. Now, let's review the previous week's matchups.

1. (1st) I could Caris less vs (12th)RimmyTinTin (9-0): Woof, that was ugly. ICCL starts this fantasy season off with a BANG!! sweeping RimTinTin away 9-0. ICCL had solid performances from guys like Tatum, Ingram, and Bridges, but his number one producer this week was Khris Middleton. The Milwaukee stud put up 26.7 pts, 3.3 treys, 7.3 rebs, and 6 ast, which was 9th best overall for the week. He did all this while shooting 52.8% for the week. Middleton picked up right where he left off from his previous best career season. He has all the motivation and skills to top last season. RimmyTinTin had a tough week - he only had 5 players on his squad who played 3 games. The auto-picking wonder will need a few weeks to regain health and compete. Hopefully he isn't too far in the hole when he does get back full strength. Even with the bleak weak, Kawhi Leonard was his top guy, putting up 23.5, 1.5 treys, 3.5 rebs, 5 ast, and 3 steals. Good for 28th best player of the week.

2. (2nd) Hot Stove Contact vs (10th)Lukat Me! Lukat Me! (6-3): A tough fight, but HSC ultimately came out on top. His new trade acquisition was a little underwhelming this first week, but I would never sleep on Steph Curry for long. He'll bounce back soon enough. HSC got nice surprising boosts from Duncan Robinson and Julius Randle, both finishing top-40 for the week. His main contributor was, Trust the Process Joel Embiid. The big man tallied 28 pts, 1.5 treys, 12 rebs, 2 ast and 1 block, good for 13th best of the week. Embiid should be rolling out with top-15 value all year. Enjoy the ride. LM!LM! was the unfortunate manager of Ja Morant, the young gun was on fire with 2nd best overall value of the week. He had 36 pts, 1.5 treys, 2.5 rebs, 8 ast, 1 steal, and 1 blk. Hopefully Ja will be back sooner than later. In the meantime LMLM will hopefully continue to get dynamite performances from the likes of Oladipo, DeRozan and Brogdon all who put up top-30 value for the week. His number 1 pick, Doncic was a bit disappointing this week, only returning 5th round value. That won't last long. See you in the top 10 soon Luka.

3. (3rd) Siakam Madique vs (9th) Blakeshi69 & TraeWay (6-3): Siakam was the victor in this matchup, even with over half of his team finishing below 130. It's actually kinda amazing he won 6-3 here. Only three of his players finished in the top 55, including De'Andre Hunter, Anthony Davis, and his stud of the week CJ McCollum. McCollum put up 33.5 pts, 6 treys, 3.5 rebs, 5.5 ast on 49% shooting. CJ's performance was good for 5th best overall. Siakam will be hoping for better outings from Shai, Donovan and Wiggins. I wouldn't worry about any of them. B&TW, it's pretty stunning that you did not come out on top this week. Blakeshi69 had 4 players who finished top-10 for the week including Trae, Christian Wood, George Hill, and his number one stud Chris Boucher. Boucher totaled 17 pts, 1.5 treys, 7.5 rebs, and a whopping 4.5 blocks on 71% fg. The blocks are probably what catapulted his value to 4th best for the week. Still, ya gotta be happy with that production. I predicted big things for Boucher this year and I think it'll only be a matter of time before he starts over Baynes. Nurkic was a bit disappointing this week, hopefully he bounces back to prominence.

4. (4th) Nocturnal Sunuva Gun vs (11th) Harden the Paint (6-3): NSG comes out on top in this matchup. He had stellar performances from ballers like Markkanen, Turner, and Dragic - all who finished in the top 45 for the week. His number one stud was the Slim Reaper, Kevin Durant. He's back! the Durantula put up 14th overall value with 26.7 pts, 3 treys, 4 rebs, 3.3 ast, 1.7 steals and 53% fg. I never had a doubt KD would return and ball out. Haters be damned. NSG will hope to see Fox get back on track, as he had a pretty mediocre first week. I wouldn't worry about Fox, he's a stud and he lives in Sacramento so it makes him even stronger. HtP was on the losing end of this one. He had 3 guys finish in the top 25 including Gobert, Kyrie and Harden. Harden only played one game for the week so I wouldn't say it's fair to call him HtP's top baller. I'd give that honor to Kyrie, who had 3rd best value for the week. Irving had 29.3 pts, 4.7 treys, 4.3 rebs, 6 ast on an absurd 61% shooting percentage. HtP will need stronger performances from guys like Bryant (8th round value) and D'Angelo (22nd round value). Both guys should be top-75 so I wouldn't be too concerned. The trade hungry manager has been attempting to ship out Gobert, evidenced by his message he wants him gone by "tonight" Good luck moving the Stifle Tower.

5. (5th) Consider the Kings vs (7th) A Slice Called Quest (5-4): The commish squeaked out a win barely with the match coming down to the last day of games. The commish had 6 players finish top-50 for the week including Montrezl, Paul George, Brad Beal, Jaylen Brown, Alec Burks, but his top stud was Scary Terry Rozier. Rozier had 23rd best value for the week with 26.7 pts, 4.3 treys, 3.3 rebs, 3 ast, 1.3 steals on 52% fg. These numbers aren't sustainable but the commish will enjoy it while it lasts. ASCQ almost pulled out the victory with 5 players finishing in the top-50 including Bam, Steve Adams, Nance Jr., Plumlee and his top dawg Niiiiikoooola Jokic. The Joker was the 11th best player of the week with 26.5 pts, 1 trey, 12 rebs, 12 ast, and 1.5 blks on 58% fg. ASCQ had a solid week with all of his players finishing top-100 besides 4 guys. It won't belong until the reigning champ's team is balling again.

6. (6th) KATastrophic vs (8th) Thicc n roll (5-4): The two amigos faced off with KATastrophic coming out on top. KAT had three guys in the top-50 for the week including J-Rich, Sexton, and his top stud Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns put up 12th best value for the week with 19 pts, 1.5 treys, 11.5 rebs, 5 ast, 1 stl, and 3 blocks. Sexton I think is the real story here leading a young Cavs team to a 3-0 start (until the Knicks showed up last night running that) Jimmy Butler was a no show this week, but Jimmy Buckets will be back soon and a top gun. Murray also had an abysmal start with 18th round value for the week. That won't last long. Thicc n Roll barely lost the week, but surprisingly his team was led by Darius Garland. Garland was the 17th best player of the week with 19 pts, 2.3 treys, 3.7 rebs, 8.3 ast, 1.7 stls on 54.8% shooting. Some of Tnr's players had a disappointing week including LeBron, Devonte', and Zion - all finishing below 120, none were worse than Kelly Oubre Jr. putting up 32nd round value. Ouch. That won't last. All these guys should be top-100 by years end.

Week 2 is already upon us; I've already seen a lot of your guys who had disappointing week 1's playing better. Set those lineups, make those free agent grabs, and send out low ball trade offers. The Knicks are 2-2, consider them.
