Week 8 Write Up

Rise and shine for another great week of fantasy hoops and a look back at week 8. We are currently finished with 40% of the regular season and it's time to re-examine your team and your opponents as we approach the midpoint of the season. There's still plenty of time to make moves and win match ups to advance to the playoffs. Let's review week 8 and we have Patrick's Power Rankings and Colonic Clairvoyance too. (There were 7 players in the top 10 for week 7 that played 2 games or less so you may be surprised not to see your guy as a top player this week, or be surprised at how high one of your guys was).

1. Consider the Knicks: After his first defeat of the season CTK dropped to 2nd place, but he's back on top after a big 7-2 victory. He owes the cellar dweller for putting up a fight against Nocturnal.πŸ… He also owes his Montenegrin Big Man Nikola Vucevic. The Vooch put up 21 pionts, 1.8 treys, 13.5 rebs, 5.2 ast, 1.5 steals, 2.8 blocks on 54.4% fg and 100% ft in a big 4-game week and was the best player of the week.πŸ… Vooch was dominate this week, lighting up every category and even posted a triple-double. He has excelled and taken advantage of his opportunities with Aaron Gordon and Fournier out of the lineup. CTK will hope to see Vooch keep it going as he faces 7th place RimmyTinTin.

2. Nocturnal Sunuva Gun: It was a brief moment in the sun as the 1st place leader, but the cellar dweller put up more of a fight than Nocturnal may have expected. Even with the 5-4 victory NSG dropped back to 2nd. This may be a weekly game of changing places with CTK. DeMarcus Cousins was his best player of the week with 30 points, 2.8 treys, 13.2 rebs, 4.2 ast, 2.2 steals, 2 blocks, with 50% fg and 70.7% ft - good for 14th overall on the week. No time to breath for the surging NSG, as he's back in the spotlight again with the πŸ”₯  MATCHUP OF THE WEEK. πŸ”₯ against 4th place EasyOrTheHardaway. Should be an interesting match with a guard heavy team against a big man team. EasyOrTheHardaway does have some injuries though.

3. Queef Latina: Queef continues his recent strong play as he handled the injured Young Kangz 6-3. Some of QL's recent improvement could be attributed to the reemergence of Jimmy Butler who put up 23.7 points, 1.3 treys, 5.7 rebs, 6 ast, 2 steals, with 54% fg and 86.7% ft - good for 7th best player of the week. Butler has really turned it around since mid-November and shows no signs of slowing down. The Wolves seem to be relying on him more and more, and Jimmy has made several comments about getting back to his old self. All of this is good news for QL as he faces 11th place White Sides Matter.

4. EasyOrTheHardaway: Creep creep creep. That's all this guy has been doing is inching his way up the standings. After a 6-3 week 7 victory EOTH has jumped from 6th to 4th place and announced himself as a real competitor. Khris Middleton put up 22.8 points, 2.5 treys, 4.5 rebs, 4.8 ast, .5 blocks with 59.6% fg and 100% ft - good for 4th best player of the week. Lillard could have been EOTH's best player, but he only played two games. The spotlight is on EOTH with the πŸ”₯  MATCHUP OF THE WEEK πŸ”₯ against 2nd place Nocturnal. This may be a tough week for EOTH with injury problems, but may still be competitive with his small ball players against NSG's big men.

5. Chobani: The yogurt jumped right back into contention after a 6-3 week 7 victory. This propelled him from 7th to 5th place. After losing two weeks in a row, Chobani got a much needed win. Of course it was Antetokounmpo leading the way with 32.2 points, .5 treys, 10.5 rebs, 4.5 ast, 1.5 steals, and 1 block on 54.3% fg and 83% ft - good for 8th best player of the week. Since we always highlight Giannis, it's worth noting Caris LaVert and Will Barton also had top 15 caliber weeks. Chobani faces 6th place TheRussianPipeLine and his band of all-star guards - luckily for Chobani Steph Curry is still out with the ankle injury.

6. TheRussianPipeLine: Easy eeeaasy. After getting a win last week, The Pipe suffered a close 4-5 defeat. His usual guys played well, but Harden and Curry only played a combined 3 games this week. Losing Curry with the ankle injury is going to be tough for TRPL for a few weeks and will have to hope Oladipo and Kyrie can pick up the slack. Oladipo was his best player this week with 30.8 points, 4.8 threes, 7 rebs, 4.2 ast, 1.8 steals, and .8 blocks on 51.2% fg and 69% ft - good for 16th best player of the week. Even though he put up phenomenal stats and the best game of his career last night, his poor ft% and turnovers weighted him down this week. I doubt The Pipeline cares too much about his turnovers and poor ft% if he keeps lighting up the rest of the categories. The Pipeline needs to figure out things soon with one winning week out of the last five. He faces 5th place Chobani this week.

7. RimmyTinTin: It's been a rough period for Rimmy after winning the first 4 weeks in a row he has dropped 3 out of his last 4 matches. Things might be getting slightly more difficult for him with the severe injury to Booker and the concussion to A Gordon. Maybe it's time for a trade? πŸ… At least he can always count on Kevin Durant who put up 30 points, 2.3 treys, 9.3 rebs, 7.3 ast, 1 steal, and 2.7 blocks on 45.8% fg and 89.5% ft - good for 2nd best player of the week.πŸ…. It's also worth noting Kyle Lowry's absurd rebounding, as he set a new record for a player listed under 6-foot-1 to grab 10 or more rebounds in a game in a season, and he still has 58 games left to add to the record. Rimmy will take all the help he can get as he faces the 1st place Consider the Knicks.

8. Bogdanovic's Bitches: After dropping the past two weeks, Bog's Bitches pulled out a much needed 5-4 victory and jumped from 10th place to 8th. Not really any injuries to speak of on his squad; his players just need to find some consistency. Simmons and Westbrook are a great pairing with similar stats, but a piece seems to be missing from this team. His best player of the week was again the UCONN stud Kemba Walker. Kemba put up 24 points, 2.5 treys, 3.2 rebs, 5.2 ast, 1.8 steals on 40% fg and 92.9% ft - good for 12 best player of the week. Bog has a good chance to make it two wins in a row as he faces the injury crippled Young Kangz - be aware that Kawhi is potentially due back on Tuesday.

9. The Brodie: Win a week, lose a week, win a week, lose a week. Since week 4 TB has been alternating wins and losses. It's tough to build momentum and move up the standings with variable week-to-week play.πŸ… For the hundredth time this season LBJ was his top player. LeBron put up 28.5 pints, 2.5 treys, 10.2 rebs, 9 ast, 2.2 steals, and 1 block, on 53.8% fg and 74.1% ft - good for 3rd best player of the weekπŸ… The other good news for The Brodie is Chris Paul has been playing well since returning and the Rockets haven't lost yet with him in the lineup. LeBron and CP3 together should result in some more wins for The Brodie but they'll need help from the rest of the squad. TB has a good chance to get back on the winning side of things as he faces the cellar dweller - but be careful the cellar dweller only lost 4-5 to Nocturnal last week.

10. Young Kangz: Is the light at the end of the tunnel finally here? Could the reports be true?    πŸ’₯ Kawhi Leonard alertπŸ’₯ The Klaw may play as soon as Tuesday. With still over half the season left there's plenty of time to scrape and klaw his way back into playoff contention - especially with how variable the standings have been.  Embiid could have been your BPW but he only played two games, so it was up to Al Horford and his 4 game week to lead the way. Big Al wracked up 14.2 points, 1.5 treys, 8.8 rebs, 6.2 ast, .5 steals, and 1.5 blocks, on 47.9% fg and 83.3% ft - good for 18th best player of the week. Stay true to the course and pray for the healing fairy to visit your squad in the night. YK faces 8th place Bogdanovic's Bitches this week.

11. White Sides Matter: WhiteSidesMatter suffered a loss after their week 6 victory. It's been a tough stretch with all the injuries on the team, but hopefully they will be back at it soon. Even with his injury Covington was WSM's best player of the week with 16 points, 3.7 treys, 6 rebs, 3 ast, 1.7 steals, and 1.7 blocks on 48.6% fg and 75% ft - good for 11th best player of the week. Once Whiteside and Isaiah Thomas are 100% back this team could be scary with Draymond in the fold as well. WSM faces 3rd place Queef Latina.

12. KarlAnthonyPoundTown: KAPT surprised the league by putting up a tough battle against the former 1st place Nocturnal Sunuva Gun. It has to be encouraging to barely lose to one of the best teams in the league. Consider the Knicks thanks you for dragging Nocturnal into the cellar with you for that matchup. Your BPW was almost a tie between Serge Ibaka and Karl-Anthony, but Serge prevailed putting up 20 pints, 3.3 treys, 4 rebs, 1 ast, .7 steals, and 1.7 blocks on 60.5% fg and 80% ft - good for 10th best player of the week. It'd be nice to see Serge rebound the ball more but KAPT will take the 3 pointers and good fg and ft percentages I'm sure. A winnable matchup is on the horizon as KAPT faces 9th place the Brodie.
