1. Consider the Knicks: Current record 63-36: CTK's top 5 performers this year include Anthony Davis, Nikola Vucevic, Kristaps Porzingis, Klay Thompson and Gary Harris. CTK has managed to only lose one matchup so far this year despite the occasional injuries. Currently he has one of his best players, Vucevic, out with a fractured hand. The commish will have to continue his winning ways if he wants to secure a top seed for playoffs. He's made a modest amount of transactions this year (15) and seems to be content with his team. He's also completed one trade (Paul George for Porzingis). Gary Harris has been one of his steals of the draft (drafted in the 7th round and is currently putting up approximately 3rd round value).
2. Nocturnal Sunuva Gun: Current record: 60-38-1: Nocturnal started the season a little rocky, losing 2 out of the first 3 matchups, but since then he has been coasting, winning 7 out of his last 8. He is also the only team to beat the first place CTK. NSG's core 5 players are DeMarcus Cousins, Trevor Ariza, Marc Gasol, Andre Drummond and Evan Fournier. Trevor Ariza is one of his biggest steals of the draft. Ariza is currently posting approximately 3rd round value, while NSG didn't draft him until the 6th round. He has completed a trade this year, sending Kyrie "flat-earther" Irving for Marc Gasol. The trade seems to have worked, because he has been winning most of his matchups since Gasol's arrival. Paul Millsap is one of his main injuries right now, and I'm sure he can't wait to get him back. NSG just needs to keep doing what he's doing and he should be a lock for playoffs.
3. Queef Latina: Current record 57-39-3: One of the most surprising teams this year is QL. He started the year rough, losing 4 out of his first 5 matchups. Since then, he has won 6 straight weeks in a row. He has also been winning matchups big (i.e. 7-2 or 6-3) to really help boost him up in the standings. His top-5 players this year are Jimmy Butler, Nikola Jokic, Otto Porter, Clint Capela, and Eric Bledsoe. Jimmy Butler started the year similar to how QL did. But since about mid-November Butler and QL have been on fire. He doesn't really have any steals in the draft as most of his guys are playing right where you'd expect. He has made a large amount of transactions (4th overall). QL is sitting comfortably in 3rd place with 5.5 games separating him and the 4th place team. Keep queefing.
4. I'm Hurten: Current record 52-45-2: One of the more intriguing lineups in the league belongs to Hurten. He started off hot winning his first three weeks in a row, but has stumbled a bit losing 6 out of his last 8 weeks. Surprisingly he hasn't dropped much since his final scores tend to be 4-5. He has some of the best players in the league, with his top-5 being Harden, Curry, Oladipo, Kyrie Irving, and Tyreke Evans. Oladipo has to be his steal of the draft, selecting him in the 5th round while he is currently posting 1st round value. Tyreke Evans was also a nice add. Hurten has been busy on the trade block acquiring Kyrie and Harden through trades. Injuries have been tough with Curry out a few weeks and as soon as he comes back, Harden goes down. Oladipo has also missed some games here and there. Kyrie has been one of his more consistent producers. Hurten may need to make another or trade or some type of adjustment to start winning matchups instead of barely losing 4-5 each week. Playoffs look to be in his future though.
5. The Never Nudes: Current record 52-46-1: TNN has had a fairly successful season so far and is clearly in the playoff hunt. He has yet to find consistency with win streaks, winning no more than 2 weeks in a row. His core 5 players include: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, DeMar DeRozan, Tobias Harris, and Darren Collison. Darren Collison is his biggest steal of the drat thus far. He was selected in the 9th round and is putting up approximately 5th round value. Tragedy struck on the first game of the season for TNN, losing his second round player, Gordon Hayward, in the first 5 minutes. TNN has managed well and is still a threat to win it all. He's made no trades this year, although close at times. He's made the 3rd most add/drops in the league so he stays busy looking for those stats and diamond's in the rough. With Giannis at the helm, he should make a playoff appearance.
6. RimmyTinTin: Current record 51-47-1: Rim started out hot, winning 5 out of his first 6 weeks, however he has dropped 3 out of his last 5 since then. His top-5 guys include: Durant, Lowry, Aaron Gordon, Devin Booker, and Myles Turner. Without a doubt, rookie Jayson Tatum, is his steal of the draft. He was selected in the 13th round but is putting up 5th/4th round value on the season. Nurkic has been a disappointment for Rimmy who he picked in the 5th round and he is not even in the top-200 conversation. Hopefully Nurk is more of a second half player. Rim is still well in contention for a playoff spot with a 2.5 game lead over the 7th place team.
7. J.Ingle Bells: Current record 49-50-0: Just a game under .500 at the midway point, J.Ingle's previous win streak is a distant memory. After rattling off 6 straight weeks of winning, J.ingle has dropped his last 3. The injury bug has reared its ugly head and clamped onto the 7th place team. The good news is Blake and Wall are back, and Tim Hardaway can't be far behind. Bell's core 5 has been Lillard, Middleton, Griffin, Bazemore and KCP. Once healthy again, it would appear THJ will be his steal of the draft. He selected Tim Hardaway in the 7th round and he should perform well above that. Harrison Barnes has been a bit of a disappointment for Bells, playing approximately 4 rounds below his selected draft position. No trades yet for the 7th place team, maybe 2018 will bring a trade into his future. J.Ingle should be back in the playoff hunt when his team is at full strength.
8. Booker's Hookers: Current record 46-53-0: The enigma team. Book's Hook's looks like a solid team on paper, however the winning results haven't come to fruition. He has been on a recent win one, lose one, win one, lose one streak. His top-5 players have been Kemba, Westbrook, CJ McCollum, Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson. Pau Gasol is kind of his steal of the draft selecting him in the 11th round. Pau has been playing 6th round caliber ball this year. His real steal is his addition of Lauri Markkanen who I predict will finish top-60 this year. The Finnish rookie has looked very poised this year as a young rook. Hopefully Booker's can find some consistency in 2018 and make a push for the playoffs.
9. The Brodie: Current record 43-55-1: TB is another team that has struggled to find consistency in the win column this year, with his largest win streak being two weeks. His core-5 guys have been LeBron, Chris Paul, Bradley Beal, Jamal Murray, and the rookie Kyle Kuzma. His steal of the draft is easily Kuzma. The rook was selected in the 10th round, but has been producing top-80 value. The Brodie has made a limited amount of transactions (the 3rd fewest in the league). Maybe some changes to the lineup are in order to string together more wins. He usually plays the top teams tough so he must feel he is close to turning the page. There is still plenty of time for The Brodie to right the ship.
10. Young Kangz: Current record 40-57-2: Patience has been the name of the game for YK this season. He had to wait weeks for his first round player to be activated in Kawhi Leonard. Since Kawhi has been hurt, Young Kangz has been relying on his top-5 of Paul George, Joel Embiid, Al Horford, JJ Redick, and Dennis Schroder. The Klaw will surely be one of his top-5 players by the end of the season. His steal of the draft was probably Redick who was selected in the 9th round, but has been providing approximately 5th round value on the season. He's made one trade this year swapping Porzingis for Paul George. Now that YK is fully healthy it's time for him to make his stand and see what he's got to work with. He's only 10.5 games out of a playoff spot which is nothing in the fantasy basketball world.
11. White Sides Matter: Current record 37-60-2: Another injury plagued team has been White Sides Matter. Hassan Whiteside has been in and out of the injury tent all year and Mike Conley has been right there with him. The good news is Whiteside is back and Conley is supposedly close behind. Another great bit of news is Isaiah Thomas is back in the Land. His top-5 players this year have been Covington, Draymond, LaMarcus Aldridge, Whiteside, and Nikola Mirotic. His steal of the draft is definitely RoCo who was selected in the 6th round and is putting up approximately 2nd round value. WSM also made a trade sending Harden off for Draymond and LaMarcus Aldridge. I think this was a great trade for them to deepen their roster. When WSM is fully healthy they may start making some noise in the league. It's going to be exciting watching IT round back into form. WSM is only 13.5 games out of a playoff spot, definitely plenty of time left.
12. KarlAnthonyPoundTown: Current record 37-61-1: It's been a tough year for KAPT as he's been jostling with WSM for 11th place. His top-5 players this year have been Karl-Anthony, Kevin Love, Serge Ibaka, Rudy Gobert, and Wesley Matthews. Towns has been his usual stud self providing 1st round value on the year. Unfortunately, Rudy Gobert keeps getting his knees banged into and ending up on the injury report. D'angelo Russell also started the year red hot but got hit with a nasty injury. KAPT is only 14 games out of a playoff spot, so by no means is he out of the running but he will have some serious work to do.
